Dua Lipa Cancels Jakarta Concert Amid Safety Concerns
Indonesian fans of Dua Lipa are feeling deflated after the pop sensation was forced to cancel her highly anticipated concert scheduled for November 9, marking her first performance of the year. While audiences were eager to see the singer behind hits like “Don’t Start Now” and “Levititating” light up the Indonesia Arena stage, safety concerns unfortunately put the brakes on the much-awaited event.
Taking to social media, Dua Lipa shared her heartfelt disappointment. “I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “But I am gutted to share it has been determined it is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging. I was so looking forward to this night… it truly pains me.” Her words echoed the sentiments of the many fans who had been anxiously awaiting the show.
The cancellation stems from what organizers claim were “unforeseen safety and logistical issues” concerning the stage structure. A joint statement from TEM Presents and PK Entertainment confirmed the decision, expressing their regret over how circumstances prevented the concert from taking place. “Despite Dua Lipa’s readiness to perform and the whole team’s efforts to resolve the production issues related to the stage, it is not safe for the performance to carry on,” the statement read.
Echoing the sentiment of her fans, Dua Lipa reassured them: “Refunds will be made from your point of purchase. I love you all and truly can’t wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible.” This cancellation has left many followers on edge as they ponder when they might next get to see their idol.
The Jakarta concert was meant to be part of Dua Lipa’s “Radical Optimism” tour, which had recently kicked off with stops in Singapore, followed by scheduled performances across Asia, including the Philippines, Japan, and Australia. Unfortunately, amid the excitement of her return to live performances, it seems the singer’s itinerary has run afoul of logistical challenges.
