Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Star Mia Sara Makes First Red Carpet Appearance in 15 Years

Mia Sara, renowned for her role as Sloane Peterson in the 1986 classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, made a notable return to the red carpet on June 2, 2025, marking her first such appearance in 15 years.

The event was the Los Angeles premiere of The Life of Chuck, a film adaptation of Stephen King’s novella, directed by Mike Flanagan.

In the film, Sara portrays Sarah Krantz, the grandmother of the protagonist Charles Krantz, played by Tom Hiddleston. The narrative unfolds in reverse-chronological order, depicting Charles’s life through three distinct phases. Sara’s return to acting was influenced by her admiration for Flanagan and his wife, actress Kate Siegel, particularly their work on the 2021 Netflix series Midnight Mass. She expressed that her decision to take on the role was largely due to Flanagan’s involvement, stating, “Honestly, it really was all about Mike. If Mike needs me, I’ll be there.”

At the premiere, Sara, now 57, wore a black sleeveless dress with peplum detail and accessorized with chunky bracelets. She posed alongside Flanagan and co-stars including Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Hamill, Kate Siegel, Karen Gillan, Carl Lumbly, and Annalise Basso.

The Life of Chuck is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on June 6, 2025, with a nationwide expansion on June 13. This film marks Sara’s first major screen role since 2011’s Dorothy and the Witches of Oz.

Currently residing in a 17th-century farmhouse in England with her husband Brian Henson, Sara enjoys horseback riding, reading crime fiction, and cooking. While she has not announced future acting projects, she remains open to opportunities, especially those involving Flanagan.
