If Tony and Ziva’s ‘NCIS’ Spin-Off Doesn’t Make This One Change, It Will Be a Disappointment
After years of the slow-burn romance between Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) in NCIS, the duo is finally sharing the screen once again in their own spin-off, simply titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva. When Ziva was introduced in NCIS Season 3, Episode 1, “Kill Ari (Part I),” there was already chemistry brewing between her and Tony.

For seasons on end, the duo would take one step further towards confessing their feelings, while also taking two steps back. It was initially fun to watch this dynamic over the years, but it got to a point where it became more frustrating than cute. The series saw the pair in relationships with other people, but those would never work out to really highlight that Tony and Ziva should be together. After over 10 years of Weatherly and de Pablo not sharing the screen as Tony and Ziva, will NCIS: Tony & Ziva finally satisfy fans with the budding romance they’ve been waiting for? The outlook isn’t looking too good after the first NCIS: Tony & Ziva trailer.
Tony and Ziva Need To Be in a Relationship in the ‘NCIS’ Spin-Off
In the NCIS: Tony & Ziva trailer, Ziva talks with a therapist (we love that for her) about her relationship with Tali (played by Isla Gie), her business, and her on-again, off-again relationship with Tony. While the trailer doesn’t outright say whether Tony and Ziva are back on again as a couple, they are at least co-parenting Tali. The footage also sees the pair on a date where Tony only refers to Ziva as a “safehouse roomie.” It’ll be greatly disappointing if the spin-off continues to be a slow-burn romance, because what was even the point of seeing these characters back together?
