US braces for ‘extremely dangerous’ winter storm

More than 160 million Americans are bracing for an unusually brutal winter storm beginning Friday, with heavy snowfall, dangerous freezing rain, and life-threatening Arctic cold sweeping across much of the country.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has described the conditions as “extremely dangerous,” warning of sub-zero temperatures, wind chills that “pose a life-threatening risk of hypothermia and frostbite to exposed skin,” widespread travel chaos, potential power outages, and emergency preparations underway in multiple states.
