1,500 Beagles Rescued from Research Facility Finally Find Freedom and Forever Homes in Emotional Scenes
In one of the largest animal rescues in recent U.S. history, more than 1,500 beagles are getting a second chance at life after being released from Ridglan Farms, a commercial breeding and research facility in Wisconsin.
Animal rights groups, including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy, reached a groundbreaking agreement to purchase the dogs for an undisclosed sum. The first groups of beagles have already arrived at sanctuaries in Florida, where staff describe pure joy as the dogs discover freedom.
“They know they’re safe,” one rescuer shared, watching the beagles play in open fields for the first time. Many had spent their entire lives in laboratory conditions before this moment of liberation.
The rescue follows intense protests at the facility last month, where activists clashed with authorities. Now, the focus shifts to veterinary care, microchipping, vaccinations, and adoption into loving homes across the country.
This story is touching hearts nationwide, proving that persistent advocacy can create real change for animals. With more beagles still arriving daily, the outpouring of support from the public has been overwhelming.
