Divorce Settlement Reveals Who Gets What in Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Split
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have reportedly settled their divorce just five months after Lopez first filed for divorce in August, according to TMZ.
The outlet reports that the split is surprisingly amicable, with both walking away with what they each separately earned during their two-year marriage. This means that whatever money they made from their respective projects during those two years will be theirs. They also will reportedly not be paying spousal support to each other.
At the time of their divorce filing, Affleck and Lopez did not have a prenuptial agreement—meaning that if either of them insisted, they could have been forced to split everything they earned during the marriage equally. However, the TMZ reported that the pair’s settlement was negotiated “effectively like a prenup.”
The former super-couple, known by the moniker Bennifer, also reached an agreement on how to split the $61 million house they bought together, but the terms are confidential. The house is currently on the market.
The agreement also details that Lopez will be dropping Affleck as a last name. The pair’s divorce will officially be finalized on Feb. 20, TMZ adds.
The Daily Beast has reached out to representatives of Lopez and Affleck’s for comment.
The pair were first linked in the early aughts and even got engaged in 2002—becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after couples in the process.
But they called off their engagement two years later and quickly moved on. Lopez was married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014 and Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005, a union that lasted until 2018.
In April 2021, Affleck and Lopez were spotted together for the first time in over a decade, immediately sparking romance rumors. They ultimately went public with their relationship and married in July 2022.
Lopez proceeded to file for divorce from Affleck in August last year, after almost two years of marriage.
